Ornis Research
TERMS OF USE

How this site, and what we publish on it, may be used.

Last updated: May 13, 2026.

These terms apply to your use of ornisresearch.org (“the site”) and to the writing, code, datasets, and other materials published on it by Ornis Research (“we” or “the lab”). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

What this site is

The site is an informational record of research carried out by Ornis Research, an independent AI alignment laboratory. Nothing on the site is professional advice, legal advice, medical advice, financial advice, or a representation about the behavior of any particular deployed AI system. Our published findings describe what we observed under the conditions we describe; they are not guarantees about systems or contexts we did not study.

Intellectual property

Unless a specific work indicates otherwise, the writing, illustrations, and design of this site are the work of Ornis Research and are published for reading, study, and citation. You may quote from the site for academic, journalistic, or commentary purposes with attribution. You may not reproduce the site wholesale, train models on it without permission, or present its content as your own.

Individual research outputs — papers, datasets, code releases — may be released under their own licenses (for example, an open academic-citation license for a paper, or an open-source license for a code repository). When such a license is attached to a specific work, that license governs that work, and these terms apply only to the rest of the site.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the site to: attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system; interfere with the site's normal operation; submit unlawful, harassing, or deceptive correspondence; or misrepresent your affiliation with Ornis Research.

No warranty

The site and everything on it is provided “as is.” We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, that published findings will replicate in your setting, or that any code we release is fit for a particular purpose. Research is a record of inquiry, not a guarantee.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ornis Research and its researchers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the site or reliance on anything published here. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the site, which is zero.

Third-party links

The site may link to external resources — preprint servers, collaborators, datasets, code repositories — that we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or availability. Following a link is your decision.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms as the site or our practices change. When we do, we will update the date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
